Public Mailing Lists

The following attributes are true of all public mailing lists:

  • Anybody can view group content.
  • Only managers can view group members list.
  • Anyone can join.
  • Only managers can create and edit pages.
  • Only managers can upload files.
  • Any list can be subscribed to by simply sending a blank email to {list}-subscribe@, as listed for each group below.

The primary difference between each group is in who can post to the list. This attribute, subscription info, the group web site, and the purpose are all listed below.

"Talking Book Project Announcements"

"This is a mailing list for those interested in news sent from Literacy Bridge about the Talking Book Project — just one or two announcements/updates per month. This was going to be hosted at <moc.spuorgelgoog|koobgniklat#moc.spuorgelgoog|koobgniklat> at one time, but now it is done through a email mailng list management service.

"Talking Book Project Discussions" <moc.spuorgelgoog|ssucsid-pbt#moc.spuorgelgoog|ssucsid-pbt>

"This list is intended for three purposes related to Literacy Bridge's Talking Book Project:
1. posting of ideas and general discussion about the project
2. welcome spot for new folks who are curious or interested in helping
3. forum for work items that don't yet fit into one of the work lists."

"Content working list for Literacy Bridge's Talking Book Project. Content can include interactive literacy lessons, games, or work on coordinating audio recordings of spoken information."

"Working list for software issues related to Literacy Bridge's Talking Book Project, including the device, the virtual device (Flash), the kiosk, and authoring tools. "This list is used for changes to the issue list for Literacy Bridge's Talking Book Project hosted at http://talkingbook.googlecode.com. It includes software, hardware, and non-technical issues. An issue could be anything from a code defect to be fixed to a small task in need of a volunteer."
